Zechariah 12:1 (ERVEN) Easy to Read - English

1 This is a message from the Lord about Israel. The Lord is the one who made the earth and the sky, and he put the human spirit in people. And this is what the Lord said:
2 "Look, I will make Jerusalem like a cup of poison to the nations around her. The nations will come and attack that city, and all of Judah will be caught in the trap.
3 But I will make Jerusalem like a heavy rock�those who try to take it will hurt themselves. They will be cut and scratched. All the nations on earth will come together to fight against Jerusalem.
4 But at that time I will scare the horse, and the soldier riding it will panic. I will make all the enemy horses blind, but my eyes will be open�and I will be watching over Judah's family.
5 The leaders of Judah will encourage the people and say, 'The Lord All-Powerful is your God. He makes us strong.'
6 At that time I will make the leaders of Judah like a fire burning in a forest. They will destroy their enemies like fire burning straw. They will destroy the enemy all around them, and the people in Jerusalem will again be able to sit back and relax."
7 The Lord will save the people of Judah first, so the people in Jerusalem will not be able to brag too much. David's family and the other people who live in Jerusalem will not be able to brag that they are better than the other people in Judah.
8 But the Lord will protect the people in Jerusalem. Even the man who trips and falls will become a great soldier like David. And the men from David's family will be like gods�like the Lord's own angel leading the people.
9 The Lord says, "At that time I will destroy the nations that came to fight against Jerusalem.
10 I will fill David's family and the people living in Jerusalem with a spirit of kindness and mercy. They will look to me, the one they stabbed, and they will be very sad. They will be as sad as someone crying over the death of their only son, as sad as someone crying over the death of their firstborn son.
11 There will be a time of great sadness and crying in Jerusalem. It will be like the time people cry over the death of Hadad Rimmon in Megiddo Valley.
12 Each and every family will cry by itself. The men in David's family will cry by themselves, and their wives will cry by themselves. The men in Nathan's family will cry by themselves, and their wives will cry by themselves.
13 The men in Levi's family will cry by themselves, and their wives will cry by themselves. The men in Simeon's family will cry by themselves, and their wives will cry by themselves.
14 And the same thing will happen in all the other tribes. The men and women will cry by themselves."
1 The burden H4853 of the word H1697 of the LORD H3068 for H5921 Israel, H3478 saith H5002 the LORD, H3068 which stretcheth forth H5186 the heavens, H8064 and layeth the foundation H3245 of the earth, H776 and formeth H3335 the spirit H7307 of man H120 within H7130 him.
2 Behold H2009 , I H595 will make H7760 H853 Jerusalem H3389 a cup H5592 of trembling H7478 unto all H3605 the people H5971 round about, H5439 when they shall be H1961 in the siege H4692 both H1571 against H5921 Judah H3063 and against H5921 Jerusalem. H3389
3 And in that H1931 day H3117 will I make H7760 H853 Jerusalem H3389 a burdensome H4614 stone H68 for all H3605 people: H5971 all H3605 that burden H6006 themselves with it shall be cut in pieces H8295 H8295 , though all H3605 the people H1471 of the earth H776 be gathered together H622 against H5921 it.
4 In that H1931 day, H3117 saith H5002 the LORD, H3068 I will smite H5221 every H3605 horse H5483 with astonishment, H8541 and his rider H7392 with madness: H7697 and I will open H6491 H853 mine eyes H5869 upon H5921 the house H1004 of Judah, H3063 and will smite H5221 every H3605 horse H5483 of the people H5971 with blindness. 5 And the governors H441 of Judah H3063 shall say H559 in their heart, H3820 The inhabitants H3427 of Jerusalem H3389 shall be my strength H556 in the LORD H3068 of hosts H6635 their God. H430
6 In that H1931 day H3117 will I make H7760 H853 the governors H441 of Judah H3063 like a hearth H3595 of fire H784 among the wood, H6086 and like a torch H3940 of fire H784 in a sheaf; H5995 and they shall devour H398 H853 all H3605 the people H5971 round about, H5439 on H5921 the right hand H3225 and on H5921 the left: H8040 and Jerusalem H3389 shall be inhabited H3427 again H5750 in her own place, H8478 even in Jerusalem. 7 The LORD H3068 also shall save H3467 H853 the tents H168 of Judah H3063 first, H7223 that H4616 the glory H8597 of the house H1004 of David H1732 and the glory H8597 of the inhabitants H3427 of Jerusalem H3389 do not H3808 magnify H1431 themselves against H5921 Judah. H3063
8 In that H1931 day H3117 shall the LORD H3068 defend H1598 H1157 the inhabitants H3427 of Jerusalem; H3389 and he that is feeble H3782 among them at that H1931 day H3117 shall be H1961 as David; H1732 and the house H1004 of David H1732 shall be as God, H430 as the angel H4397 of the LORD H3068 before H6440 them.
9 And it shall come to pass H1961 in that H1931 day, H3117 that I will seek H1245 to destroy H8045 H853 all H3605 the nations H1471 that come H935 against H5921 Jerusalem. H3389
10 And I will pour H8210 upon H5921 the house H1004 of David, H1732 and upon H5921 the inhabitants H3427 of Jerusalem, H3389 the spirit H7307 of grace H2580 and of supplications: H8469 and they shall look H5027 upon H413 me H853 whom H834 they have pierced, H1856 and they shall mourn H5594 for H5921 him , as one mourneth H4553 for H5921 his only H3173 son , and shall be in bitterness H4843 for H5921 him , as one that is in bitterness H4843 for H5921 his firstborn. 11 In that H1931 day H3117 shall there be a great H1431 mourning H4553 in Jerusalem, H3389 as the mourning H4553 of Hadadrimmon H1910 in the valley H1237 of Megiddon. H4023
